Halloween Photography

Perhaps the best time of year to get a child to cooperate for a photo shoot is on Halloween. 

The Things I Will Miss

1. Singing in the car together to really cheesy 80′s songs and looking in my rear view mirror to see them “rocking out” in their car seats.

Something that Works. . .Kind Of

Sometimes, some things as a parent click into place, and the Mister and I find a tip, trick, bribe, or threat–I mean “strong persuasion”–that works for our family.

Sometimes.

And what shining, very brief, moments they can be!

This is something that works for us. . .for now.  We’ll check again in a month or week, or hour or two.  You see, they unfortunately have that “I’m-going-to-keep-you-guessing-and-never-let-you-have-a-worry-free-night-of-sleep-again-in-your-entire-life-ENTIRE-LIFE!-muwhahahah!” component that all children come with.

But for now, this is something that works.

Something that Doesn’t Work

My children’s hearing.

Or at least at one time I thought it didn’t.  I would ask them something, then I’d ask a little louder, and then I’d ask with my super serious no-nonsense-voice, and then I’d just plain out yell.

Phew, they heard that.

But after awhile, for some unfathomable reason, they didn’t even hear the yell.

Photographing the Boys

I love to photograph my boys.  But asking a little boy to hold still for more than 2.5 seconds is akin to torture.  Boys know that the Lord did not intend for them to stop and breathe.  It took Momma a little longer to figure that out.

But lucky for me, my camera and I happened upon a great opportunity. . . the unfortunate lot of the younger sibling. . .

Sleep is overrated. And I’ll just keep telling myself that.

1. It always starts out the same. . .stay up a bit late chatting away with the hubby about everything and anything but actually it’s just a bunch of nothing that is really neither here nor there. Why? Because the troops are asleep and it is just so nice to have a bit of quiet together for once.

First Day of School!

Ah, there is nothing like that first day of school photo to show the growth of one’s sweet babes.
